regards the rank of Commodore and the Corresponding Military rank of Brigadier General - (unless the latter

be understood to be included may under the term "General")

3. The place assigned to the

Commodore, or Senior Naval Officer, in official hierarchy in this Colony, during the absence of the Commander in Chief,

is next after the Chief Justice: and when the Vice Admiral is present the Commodore is placed below the Members of the Council and the Judges,

in number about nine persons –

4. These positions would equally

be assigned to any Captain or Commander, who might for the time be Senior Naval Officer at this Port; and
